Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
An important partner in supporting activities at your school
A Parent Advisory Council (PAC) brings together the parents, guardians and caregivers of students at a public school in British Columbia. PACs provide parents with a voice in their school community and can support initiatives that contribute to students’ learning, well-being and school experience.
PACs are recognized under the BC School Act and have the right to advise school administration on matters relating to public education.
Why work with your PAC?
Your PAC can be an important partner when planning an activity or project for students.
Depending on its priorities and available funding, a PAC may:
- provide financial support for activities benefiting students;
- participate in planning and organizing a project;
- help involve parents and the school community;
- collaborate with the school and an external organization or service provider.
PACs are not required to fundraise, but many choose to organize fundraising activities to support initiatives at their school.

A PAC may be able to contribute financially to a Profaqua activity, depending on its available funds, priorities and applicable funding rules.

Community Gaming Grants
PACs in British Columbia may be eligible for Community Gaming Grants. These grants are intended to benefit K–12 students by enhancing extracurricular opportunities and community involvement.
For the 2026–2027 grant year, the PAC grant amount is based on $20 per student, with one application per year. Applications are submitted between April 1 and June 30.
Important: Funding eligibility and eligible expenses are determined by the Community Gaming Grant guidelines. We recommend confirming that your proposed activity is eligible before relying on this funding.
BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC)
The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC) is the provincial voice of parents, guardians and caregivers in BC public schools. It represents PACs and District Parent Advisory Councils (DPACs) and supports parent participation, leadership and advocacy across the province.
BCCPAC also provides PACs with resources related to governance, financial management, gaming grants, leadership and parent engagement.
