How can it perform calculations, solve problems, or run a program?<\/p>\n<p>Using the <strong>Turing Tumble\u00ae<\/strong> game, students discover the fundamental principles of programming and how computers work\u2026 <strong>without screens or electricity!<\/strong> By building real mechanical circuits powered by marbles, they develop their logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and understanding of computer science concepts such as <strong>algorithms, binary numbers, and logic gates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Through a series of progressively challenging activities, students observe, experiment, test their ideas, and correct their mistakes in order to find the best solution. A hands-on, engaging, and stimulating way to discover the basics of computer science while developing <strong>persistence, creativity, and critical thinking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Included:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Available as <strong>in-school workshops<\/strong>: a minimum of 2 workshops of 60, 75, or 90 minutes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>After-school programs<\/strong>: 60-minute workshops available in 6-, 8-, or 10-week sessions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop logical thinking by analysing and solving programming challenges.<\/li>\n<li>Understand that an <strong>algorithm<\/strong> is a sequence of instructions used to solve a problem.<\/li>\n<li>Experiment with different strategies to test, modify, and improve a solution.<\/li>\n<li>Recognize that computers make decisions by following logical rules.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with peers to design, test, and explain a solution.<\/li>\n<li>Develop <strong>persistence, critical thinking, and creativity<\/strong> when faced with increasingly complex challenges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the secondary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Design and optimize algorithms to solve complex problems.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the role of <strong>logic gates, binary numbers, and decision-making mechanisms<\/strong> used in computers.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a problem-solving process based on observation, analysis, testing, and refinement.<\/li>\n<li>Use <strong>computational thinking<\/strong> to plan, test, and improve a solution.<\/li>\n<li>Explain how a logical system works using appropriate scientific and technological vocabulary.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate effectively to take on challenges involving <strong>programming, logic, and reasoning<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Logic Challenge!
