This turnkey project shows aspiring architects how to use small wooden sticks and liquid glue to build a bridge capable of supporting a four-kilogram weight or a building capable of resisting a 15-second earthquake. Sturdier than concrete, more beautiful than the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, come surprise us with your eco-friendly constructions!<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the menu:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) Learning the basic concepts of architecture (60 min):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction of buildings and towers using Lego\u00ae Dacta\u00ae<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of bridges and buildings<\/li>\n<li>Project description (The activity guide must be advised of your choice of a bridge and building before the second workshop)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2)\u00a0Materials provided at this stage \u2013 Start-up of various projects (90 min)<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0Continuation of projects (90 min)<\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0Tests to ensure the sturdiness of the bridges and buildings and presentation of LEED (60 min) certification.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe how one or several forces can act on a structure (move it, change its movement and stop it).<\/li>\n<li>Understand the important of the centre of gravity, symmetry and triangular shapes in engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research on a bridge or building.<\/li>\n<li>Consider the constraints on project completion (time, dimensions, strength, teamwork and implementation challenges).<\/li>\n<li>Design and build a neat, aesthetic structure that respects the environment.<\/li>\n<li>Trace, cut and stick wooden pieces (liquid glue and clamp).<\/li>\n<li>Report the results of your research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the secondary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Use different sources of information to conduct research on the chosen structure.<\/li>\n<li>Identify the constraints in building\u00a0 the structure.<\/li>\n<li>Determine how to put together the different pieces of the structure.<\/li>\n<li>Explain the importance of measurements in an architectural project.<\/li>\n<li>Understand the importance of material management at the economic and environmental level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solid constructions using small wooden sticks!
