Under our feet, tectonic plates rub against each other and collide head-on, causing natural disasters and formation of the relief of our planet Earth. To better understand these phenomena, your geologists will study three main rocks beneath the soil so that they can discover the mineral treasures buried under our feet! Activities involving role play, gold and silver observations, magnesium fireworks will make their knowledge solid as a rock!<\/p>\n<p><strong>For 30 more minutes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Discover our vast collection of rocks and minerals and make your fossil of ants in fake amber that you get to take home!<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the formation and composition of the Earth.<\/li>\n<li>Know the three main types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic).<\/li>\n<li>Explain the movement of tectonic plates<\/li>\n<li>Differentiate between a rock and a mineral.<\/li>\n<li>Classify rocks (presence of strata and crystal size) and minerals (colour, crystalline form, hardness and acid reaction).<\/li>\n<li>Reproduce the fossilization process of an insect in amber.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Geologists, get your tools!
