We were inspired by birds! We will turn the classroom into a small mixed forest community by bringing small flying animals with us. Together, we will study the anatomy of their feathers and understand the flight henomenon by closely examining specimens from our magnificent collection. We will also compare different nests, observe an egg of an ostrich from South Africa and dissect an owl\u2019s pellet. Lastly, young ornithologists will discover the secrets of approximately ten species of birds of Quebec, including their chirps and songs that were audiotaped. A workshop that will make you happy as a lark!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For 30 more minutes<\/strong>, take part in a sound quiz and try to recognize our very realistic imitations of the chirps and songs of the 10 birds of Quebec presented earlier in the workshop!<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Classify birds within the animal kingdom and according to their class.<\/li>\n<li>Associate different parts of a bird with their functions (wings, beak, feet and feathers).<\/li>\n<li>Describe how birds adapt to their environment (nesting, migration).<\/li>\n<li>Associate birds with their diet (carnivorous, omnivorous, herbivorous).<\/li>\n<li>Classify birds according to their song.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Magnificent birds!
