Our botanists will show us how plants play an essential in keeping the balance of life on Earth. They will learn about their fascinating modes of reproduction by dissecting a real flower called Astro. From male and female reproductive organs to pollinators for seed dispersal and germination, flowers will no longer be a secret to us! And nothing will be wasted with a small tasting of the nectar of their flowers to end the best science workshop ever!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>For 30 more minutes<\/strong>, come discover Quebec\u2019s magnificent spring flowers in mixed forest!<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the parts of the anatomy of a plant (roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds).<\/li>\n<li>Associate the parts of a plant with their general function.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the forms of sexual reproduction in plants (pistil, stamen, pollen, seed and fruit).<\/li>\n<li>Describe the stages of a flowering plant\u2019s growth (pollination, fertilization, fructification, seed dispersal, germination and flowering).<\/li>\n<li>Dissect a flower in the classroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the secondary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the parts of the anatomy of a plant and their functions.<\/li>\n<li>Distinguish between asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the role of gametes in reproduction.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the forms of asexual reproduction in plants (e.g. budding, cutting, formation of rhizomes and tubers, as well as layering).<\/li>\n<li>Describe sexual reproduction in flowering plants.<\/li>\n<li>Dissect a flower in the classroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u266b Flowers, flowers, pretty flowers \u266a Did you know that most flowers are hermaphrodites?
