How are the blind able to read? How does our brain play tricks on us to recreate movement and depth in an image? What is light made of? The answers to these fascinating questions are found through learning about the anatomy of our eye and our five interactive experiments: braille reading, Benham\u2019s Disk, creation of a thaumatrope, optical illusions and spectroscopes. Note: Your young scientists will be proud to take their thaumatrope home!<\/p>\n<p><strong>For 30 more minutes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A sixth station has been added on shadow theatre, an ancient animation technique to create a movement effect!<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe the various parts of the eye.<\/li>\n<li>Understand how the eye detects colour (cones and rods).<\/li>\n<li>Observe the change in forms, colours and textures in optical illusion images.<\/li>\n<li>Create an optical illusion to take home.<\/li>\n<li>Observe the behaviour of coloured light rays (primary colours of light).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify the main parts of the eye responsible for vision.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the function of the main parts of the eye.<\/li>\n<li>Define what a hereditary trait is (eye colour).<\/li>\n<li>Describe the phenomena of dominant and recessive traits.<\/li>\n<li>Understand how the brain interprets the light information sent through the eyes (cones, rods, reversed image, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Observe optical illusions that trick the brain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Outwit what deceives the eye!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 How are our eyes made up?
