What hides behind the white light? How does a laser work? Visible and non-visible light, its components, speed, force and different frequencies of light are key concepts that youths will learn about through hands-on experience with a spectroscope, white and ultraviolet light, fiber optics, prisms, mirrors and lasers. They will be dazzled!<\/p>\n<p><strong>For 30 more minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Come discover the mystery behind hidden light and secret light. What is hidden in a passport or an IWB remote control? Come explore with us! In a dark room with no smoke alarm, become the actors on Mission Impossible!<\/p>\n<h2><strong><u>Objectives at the elementary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the different components in light (photons).<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with the primary colours of light.<\/li>\n<li>Identify different sources of light.<\/li>\n<li>Observe the behaviour of a light ray (laser).<\/li>\n<li>Recognize the presence of &#8220;hidden&#8221; light (infrared and ultraviolet).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><u>Objectives at the secondary level:<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Define light as a form of radiant energy.<\/li>\n<li>Define wavelength as the distance between any two corresponding points on a wave at any given moment (e.g. the distance between two crests).<\/li>\n<li>Identify various luminous regions on the electromagnetic spectrum (e.g. radio, infrared, visible light and X-rays).<\/li>\n<li>Describe the relationship between wavelength and the energy associated with it (e.g. X-rays are a very energetic form with short wavelengths).<\/li>\n<li>Describe how light rays are deviated by a plane reflecting surface and mirror.<\/li>\n<li>Describe how light rays are deviated when they strike the convex or concave surface of a transparent material.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let us enlighten you!
