Week 2 : 6 to 8 years old (July 6 to 10, 2020)

Science theme: Geology

Do you know what’s to be found beneath our feet? Our young geologists will pick up their shovels and work to discover the treasures hidden in the uppermost layers of the Earth’s crust. They will find mysterious earthworms responsible for the formation of the humus layer, then fossils 450 million years old and finally rocks such as basalt or metals such as gold! In-depth knowledge!

Workshops: Earth & Moon, Dry Ice, Rocks & Minerals, Fossils and Simple Machine

Theme of Friday’s show: In the footsteps of great inventors

Robotics theme: Extreme adrenaline

Your team has been chosen to modernize a mine in Val-d’Or on behalf of a mineralogy club and defend it against a major real estate development project. How many kilos of rocks will your robot be able to push? We will learn how to program robots that are able to detect an opposing robot and push it out of the mine. Will you have the strongest robot?

Week 6 : 6 to 8 years old (August 3 to 7, 2020)

Science Theme: Let’s Get Moving

Discover all the science behind movement during this week. You’ll learn about potential energy, and we’ll demystify slow and fast sugars. Our athletic performance and our health depend on our nutritional choices! You will understand this by participating in a real research experiment in which you will be the actor! We will evaluate the effect of hydration levels and different sugars on your athletic performance and then a table of your results will be drawn up and given to you. It’s a great way to understand the impact of your eating habits! Physics will no longer hold any secrets for you!

Workshops: Energy, Fluid Testing, Dynamo, Complex Carbohydrate (slow sugar) Testing and Domino Effect

NB: Use of possibly allergenic elements (peanuts, wheat, gluten, milk and nuts)

Theme of Friday’s show: HALLOWEEN! The science of fear

Robotics theme: Acrobot and Jonglobot

Circus and dance. Mmm, can robots participate?

That’s what you’ll find out. Your EV3 robot will have to demonstrate agility, coordination, strength, balance and flexibility. It will move to the rhythm of lively music. Are you ready to join the party?
