  • How about programming a little WALLŸE? This is what we offer you with the MINDSTORMS® EDUCATION NXT robot.
  • You will become a robot programmer and be able to meet many challenges with LEGO® MINDSTORMS EDUCATION EV3® robots.

At the Profaqua Science Day Camp, you will be accompanied by dynamic science specialists and camp counsellors! Don’t worry; there is something for everyone. The day camp offers different levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Places are limited, so sign up now. We are looking forward to meeting you and introducing you to robotics.

Week 1 - From June 24 to 28, 2019

Extreme sumo robot (9 to 12 years old)

How many kilos will your robot be able to push? We will learn to build and program robots that are able to detect an opponent robot and push it outside the game area. Will you have the strongest robot?

We will use LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT 2.0 🙂

Week 2 - From July 1 to 5, 2019

Discovering LEGO® WeDo 1.0 (6 to 9 years old)

This is the week that we discover LEGO WeDo! You will have everything you need to easily build 12 models that you will program with a computer. Hours of fun guaranteed!

The LEGO® Education WeDo 1.0 material is based on a learning process which has four phases: connect, construct, contemplate and continue. It allows young children to develop their scientific, technological, engineering and programming skills in a fun way.

Sumo-adrenaline (9 to 12 years old)

Discovering LEGO® MINDSTORMS ® Education EV3

Create a world of robots who walk, talk, think and do everything you can imagine. Perform a series of complex missions on a tablet.

Your team has been mandated to defend an island, on behalf of Canada, against the Danish coast guard. The two flags will be erected on the island. Will you be able to knock down the opponent’s flag and protect your own with your EV3 robot?

Week 3 - From July 8 to 12, 2019

Discovering LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0! (6 to 9 years old)

Thanks to all the WeDo 2.0 activities, you can put yourself in the shoes of researchers, engineers, mathematicians and writers. You will carry out projects using different assemblies, a digital tablet and tools as part of super fun tasks.

Your robot protects oceans! (9 to 12 years old)

We will fight marine pollution with your robot! Take up over 15 robotic challenges on raising awareness about marine pollution and sustainable fishing. You will build accessories and program an EV3 robot.

Week 4 - From July 15 to 19, 2019

Ecosystem Walk (6 to 9 years old)

The animal kingdom is incredibly diverse. How do animals move? Your team needs to design a robotic animal by incorporating the physical and psychological characteristics of the species as well as its environment. Will your robot animal be able to move? We’re going to work on this together!

Monarch butterfly migration (9 to 12 years old)

Do you want to help monarch butterflies on their long journey? You will study biology, ecology and the environment by following the fabulous epic of the monarch butterfly. And you will do it thanks to robotics! It’s so much fun to play with LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 bricks!

Week 5 - From July 22 to 26, 2019

Adrenaline Park (6 to 9 years old)

A new amusement park called ADRENALINE will soon be built near you. The park’s architects are asking for your help to create roller coasters that visitors will adore. Your team has to design a new ride that will thrill visitors represented by LEGO® minifigures. Yippee! 🙂

Robot-city – Intelligent cities (9 to 12 years old)

How can you help solve transportation problems in our cities? You will participate in transport automation thanks to robotic control. You will help reduce the risk of accidents, avoid traffic jams and require less driving and fewer parking spaces. Will your EV3 robot be a fully self-driving robot and replace taxis and public transportation in the future? Come take up the challenge!

Week 6 - From July 29 to August 2, 2019

Montreapolis, My City of the Future (6 to 9 years old)

The residents of the city of the future “Montreapolis” seek to use new vehicles to move around easily. Your team needs to design a new means of transportation to transport one or more LEGO® minifigures in the city from location A to B. Hop on board and help them!

Space exploration (9 to 12 years old)

Initiate your EV3 robot by sending it on a mission to Mars! With LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3, you will have all the necessary tools for your project. You will have access to LOTS of LEGO parts and robotic elements to build the models related to the week’s challenges. Over 10 hours of activities (including challenge missions developed based on NASA data and research projects developed jointly with NASA). Will your robot succeed in reaching Mars?

Week 7 - From August 5 to 9, 2019

Let’s Save the Polar Bear (6 to 9 years old

Scientists studying the melting of glaciers have set up their camp on pack ice. Their equipment and cameras are stored in their suitcases. They are keeping their food in a cooler.

A few metres from the pack ice, in the water, a family of bears smell the salmon from one of the scientist’s sandwiches. The mother bear is approaching the pack ice. She will probably frighten the scientists who are conducting tests.

Your robot is called in to prevent a conflict between bears and scientists. The robot will have to calm the tension by pushing the scientists and their equipment away from danger while leaving some food behind for the bears.

Acrobot and Jonglobot (9 to 12 years old)

Circus and dance . . . Hmm, can robots participate in them?

That’s what you will discover. Your EV3 robot will need to demonstrate agility, coordination, strength, balance and flexibility. It will move to the rhythm of lively music. Are you ready to be part of the party?

Week 8 – From August 12 to 16, 2019

Recruits: Call for Help! (6 to 9 years old)

Will you answer a call for help!? A living being (human, animal or plant) is in an emergency and needs your assistance! Who is this about? What is the problem? How do we bring them back to safety? It is up to you to build your story!

Your team needs to help a living being who is faced with an emergency (of your choice). Your script should illustrate the means used to rescue this human, animal or plant from a fire, storm, extreme weather, a car accident, being stuck in a tree or some other situation.

Precision agriculture (9 to 12 years old)

There are more and more people on the planet and everyone has to eat! An ever-increasing amount of food must be produced every year.

Your EV3 robot’s mission is to collect data on the soil quality of fields on different farms and use it to plant different seeds according to soil conditions. Your mission: contribute to feeding everyone on the planet! Yum!
