Great inventions
Major discoveries
Where does the word “sandwich” come from? Who invented antibiotics? This workshop gives youths the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of five great inventors (Einstein, Galileo, Newton, Edison and Franklin) and succeed in scientific experiments similar to those conducted by these famous scientists on light, gravity, density, electric circuits and static electricity. Who knows if one of them will be the next great inventor of the century?

Objectives at the elementary level:
- Acquire a few concepts on the history of science (Einstein, Galileo, Newton, Edison and Franklin).
- Understand the different components in light and the behaviours of light rays.
- Distinguish between the concepts of mass and weight by classifying solids according to their densities (similar mass and different volume).
- Identify situations in which frictional force (friction) and gravity influence the results of a car race on an inclined plane.
- Build a simple electric circuit with the following components : wire, power source, lightbulb and switch).
- Describe the effects of electrostatic attraction.

Our needs
- 5 teams must be created before the science animator arrives.
Additional charges
- Travel costs (minimum $ 25) based on distance apply.
- In 60-minute workshops, if there are more than 5 groups on schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
- In 90-minute workshops, if there are more than 4 groups on the schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
- Additional fees will be charged if there is a delay of more than 90 minutes between two workshops.
