Did you know that in the Amazon forest, the trees form such a dense covering that clouds form below the leaves! Young minds will take a trip around the world to learn about the different types of climate on our planet Earth and their effects on the duration of seasons and vegetation. They will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between vegetation and climate by an awakening of their senses of touch, smell and above all, taste, when they visit our six stations composed of different types of seeds and extracts from countries in different climatic zones. A true feast for their young taste buds!
For 30 more minutes:
Extend the fun with two additional stations! Your climate scientists will also learn about the origin of climates and seasons from our two LEGO mini-figures, Raoul and Cecile, located on each side of the globe.
Objectives at the elementary level:
- Understand that seasons are linked to the revolution and tilting of the Earth.
- Understand that the day and night cycle is linked to the Earth’s rotation
- Identify the types of climate (polar cold, temperate, hot).
- Describe the difference between dry and wet climate
- Identify the major areas of vegetation in Quebec, Canada and the world.
- Understand the impact of climate on goods imported to Canada.
Objectives at the secondary level:
- Describe the geographic and climatic conditions that influence the distribution of biomes (e.g. latitude, humidity and temperature).
- Describe various terrestrial biomes (e.g. flora and climate).
Additional details
Our needs
- Youths must wash their hands before the animation activity (for tasting).
- 5 teams must be formed before the science animator arrives. (60 min.)

Important information
- Use of elements that may include allergens (anise, coffee beans, cinnamon, coconut, pepper, clove, sesame seeds, vanilla, cacao, sunflower seed and cumin).
Additional charges
- Travel costs (minimum $ 25) based on distance apply.
- In 60-minute workshops, if there are more than 5 groups on schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
- In 90-minute workshops, if there are more than 4 groups on the schedule, the workshops will be spread over more than one day and the transportation costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
- Additional fees will be charged if there is a delay of more than 90 minutes between two workshops.
